Chicago Planetarium

Since I've spaced these out too much, I'll remind you I was in Chicago for the company annual meeting. The big dinner was at the planetarium. What a view!

The Crown Fountain - Chicago

More from a trip that seems ages ago now...

In downtown Chicago's Millennium Park is the Crown Fountain designed by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, completed in July 2004. The fountain consists of two 50 foot glass block towers at each end of a reflecting pool that is about an inch deep. Each tower projects faces of various people and expressions. The kids of Chicago love to play in the fountain and seem to have mastered the timing for all of the fancy water effects.

While in Chicago for the company meeting, we also did a quick bus tour before dinner at the Planetarium.

Abstracts from Chicago Architecture Tour

I suppose I could have included these in the last bunch, but I decided to separate them out as abstracts.

This last one I took pointing the camera up without looking. It was taken while passing under one of the many bridges, which we were advised not to look up due to falling rust. Okee dokee.

Chicago Architecture Tour

I recently went to Chicago for a company meeting and we got to go on an architecture tour. I had forgotten how beautiful Chicago really is.

I included the last shot because it's pretty symbolic to all of the construction going on in Chicago right now. These cranes are for the controversial "Spire." It will be quite impressive if they do build it, whether in a good or bad way. We shall see what happens.

Monterey Aquarium

Last of the California narratives. This is the aquarium in Monterey.
